Lister F1- Challenge

Introduction

Due to the fact that F1 has become a little less interesting to watch on a Saturday and Sunday, I have started a F1 Fantasy competition. This site outlines the basic rules and as the season commences, an updated table for the people playing the in the league.

2008 Season Finishes

Well here we are after another year, the third now for this F1 challenge. For the second year in a row now Colin Toop has won the trophy and the accolades that go with it! We shall be presenting the trophy very shortly so check back for the pictures!!

2007 Season Completed

Well another succesfull season has now completed and I would like to say a big thank you too all that entered this year. Congratulations to COLIN TOOP our very worthy victor with a very impressive score. Please see the league for full details. The presentation of the famous Lister F1 Challenge Cup took place in the Duke Of Sussex on November 15th.

The Cup is passed on! Nick Wilson Colin Toop

Here we see last years champion, Nick (Left), relinquising his reign as Champion and presenting this years winner, Colin with the Lister F1 Cup. (Although we did need a crow bar to release his grip on it!)

Here is our 2007 worthy winner taking over the mantle of guardian of the cup for the forth coming year. Obviously he also got the £55 prize money, from out of which he bought a rather nice bottle of Champagne for those there to toast a another succesful year of the F1 Fantasy league! Thanks to Colin for that and a big thank you to all the others that played, heres to next year!

Please see the teams page for a list of all players drivers and how Colin made all the right choices.

History

I started this back in 2006 with a very simple idea and a few people willing to take part to see if the format would work. Even managed to pesuade them to part with a little cash, £5, which all went to the eventual winner, Nick Wilson. (See the 2006 season review page for more details). At this point I was simply coding by hand so the site was not glorious in design and I wasn't sure how much time I should invest in it in case it all fell flat.

It worked very well so this year was the intermediate year, what I mean by this is that I am currently in the process of learning MySQL and Perl and the plan is to add a forum for those playing, membership login and mini leagues. All this will take time and will be done whilst trying to hold down the day job so please bear with me!
